All About Mom Lacee was born in Campbell River, but when she was about five years old the family relocated to a suburb outside of the city limits, Black Creek (unincorporated), where they lived on a 5 acre hobby farm. About four years later, the Thulins came back to the city proper where Lacee made some very lasting relationships early on and was closer to her cousins, aunts and uncles. Lacee’s favourite memories of her early school years are definitely her times in the school choir. She fondly remembers many field trips to other schools and events, achieving her first solo in the first grade! Lacee’s tremendous talent was discovered while she was singing in the ladies room after school hours. Imagine the teacher’s surprise! As a child, Lacee loved to sing and draw and eagerly developed both of these talents. An artistic and creative woman, Lacee’s high school singing career took her to Banff, Montreal, Ottawa, Oregon, and she even travelled to New York with the Campbell River Children’s Choir to sing at Carnegie Hall! Growing up, Lacee wanted to be an elementary school teacher to try and give back to future generations the feeling she got from so many wonderful teachers as she was growing up. Today that career path is very possibly still in her future however while she focuses on being a stay at home mom she is pursuing a career in pharmaceuticals.
Shawn lived in Prince Rupert before moving to Campbell River at eight years old. The Campbell family lived out in the outskirts of town until Shawn and Lacee moved into their own place just before baby Landon was born. When Shawn looks back at his school days he fondly remembers taking a trip to Mexico and experiencing different cultures with his classmates. On a more regular basis, soccer trips with the boys and “hot lunches” like pizza and hot dogs from Grandma Anne’s kitchen kept things interesting and fun! Shawn’s childhood was full of sporting games, building forts and toys, skateboarding and getting into trouble! Like all little boys, he collected hockey cards and even “kinder surprise” toys. He also had a penchant for decorative pencils!! A troublesome little boy, when Shawn wasn’t trying to blow something up or light a fire, he was often found writing love letters to ALL the girls, even a few teachers! In his youth, Shawn used to tell the ladies that he wanted to be a fire fighter as did many of his guy friends but he certainly just wanted to pose in the pin-up calendars. These days Shawn is stepping up to become the Shift Manager at the Moxies Classic Grill restaurant in Campbell River.
